A Certified Nutritional Therapist
Nutritional Therapy is a form of complementary and preventative medicine where therapists work with individuals to prevent illness and disease, as well as to promote good health, by making dietary recommendations. Nutritional therapists never recommend nutrition as a replacement for medical advice but rather often work alongside medical or allied health professionals to achieve the safest and most effective client health care. Due to their training in the field of complementary medicine they are able to recognise ‘red flags’ or signs or symptoms of poor health in order to suitable refer clients for medical advice and clearance for dietary modification.
A Nutritional Therapist does not diagnose or treat disease, but instead use a wide range of tools to assess potential imbalances and make nutritional recommendations for balancing the body and promoting optimal wellness. This may involve the therapeutic application of restorative plans for optima dietary and nutrient balance or advice regarding the use of supplementary nutrients or nutraceuticals to improve wellbeing and reduce the impact or nutritional and biochemical imbalances.
